Cervical Cancer Prevention

Female genitalCervical cancer is most often caused by viral infections, particularly human papillomavirus (HPV). Symptoms generally can be a pain in the lower abdomen, back, or legs. But unfortunately, common symptoms first appeared at a high level, which at this stage of cancer do not always respond to medical treatment or surgery.
Some ways steps to avoid cervical cancer:
1. Delaying the time to become a sexually active woman. The younger a woman start having sex, the greater the likelihood of cancer development later in life.

2. Reducing the number of sex partners. According to statistics, more and more sexual partners a woman has the greater the chances of contracting this virus. Maybe condoms can help, but he is not perfect for blocking transmission of HPV.

3. HPV vaccination. Vaccination should be done before women are sexually active. And has to be done since the age of 9 years.

4. Routine examination. Since 50 years back Pap smear has reduced the mortality associated with cervical cancer by 70%. We recommend a Pap smear done 3 years after starting sexual activity or after entering the age of 21 years. And this examination should be done again every year. Women over the age of 30 years and has only 1 sex partner can perform routine examinations every 3 years, when previously been a routine examination and the results were negative.
